Measles exposure alert issued for Salaberry-de-Valleyfield

Public-health officials in Quebec's Montérégie region have issued a measles exposure alert after an infected person visited venues in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield between September 17 and 20.

Potential exposure locations include an event at Hôtel MOCO and Dooly's bar during the evening of September 18 into September 19. Officials are asking people who were present to monitor for symptoms until October 11.

Measles symptoms can include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. Infants, pregnant people, and those with weakened immune systems face a higher risk of complications.

Anyone who develops symptoms is being advised to call Quebec's Info-Santé service at 811 before visiting a clinic or hospital, allowing care teams to limit further exposure. Public-health investigators are tracing other people who may have been affected.
